It involves both theoretical learning and practical training, including: preparing for microchip implantation animal preparation, handling and restraint implantation of microchip post-implantation procedures record maintenance workplace health and safety animal health and wellbeing For participants to be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment, they must complete theory and practical assessments. Practical assessment includes microchipping 10 live cats and dogs (at least three cats and at least three dogs) under the supervision of a registered veterinarian only. Please note that this must be arranged by the participant, as RSPCA NSW is unable to accommodate this at our facilities. Following successful completion of the course and assessments, an application is then made to the Office of Local Government for the participant to become an Authorised Identifier. Please note that while the Statement of Attainment is nationally recognised, the Authorised Identifier number issued by the OLG is for use in NSW only. Those wanting to implant microchips in other states need to check that state’s requirements for becoming an identifier. Each part of the learning was straight forward and not complex. They go into enough detail to make you feel confident as an Implanter. I'm really happy with the knowledge and training this module gave me.
