Seniors for Seniors

While they may not be quite as plucky as a puppy or kitten, golden oldies still have so much love to give. Older animals are often the most faithful forever companions and, in many cases, fit right into new homes with minimal adjustment.

At RSPCA NSW, we love our golden oldies, which is why we’ve developed our wonderful Seniors for Seniors program! This heartwarming promotion provides Seniors Card holders with a 50% discount on adoption fees if they adopt a dog or cat aged over eight years old! In addition, the Seniors for Seniors program ensures that Seniors Card holders get a 10% discount on veterinary services at RSPCA NSW Veterinary Hospitals.

Along with discounts on adoptions and veterinary treatments, this promotion provides adopters with access to our Home Ever After program. The Home Ever After program is a tailored, future care plan for pets, ensuring that animal companions receive ongoing love and care should something happen to their owner.

Seniors Available for Adoption and Foster Care

Our Seniors for Seniors program ensures that we’re supporting both ends of the leash, from devoted older pet owners to distinguished senior pets. If you’re interested in bringing an older animal home, please consider adopting one of our older shelter stars. Begin your adoption journey now or meet some of the animals available for adoption by contacting us or visiting one of our shelters and adoption centres

After every canine or feline adoption, we promptly reach out to new pet parents to offer post-adoption support via phone or email, offering advice, referrals to our teams, or access to additional helpful resources. Whether we continue to follow up is entirely up to you!

If you’re not in the position to adopt, there are still ways you can lend a hand if you’re looking to support an older pet. Becoming a foster carer is such a rewarding experience. If you’re unsure about adopting but looking to personally assist our animals, consider joining our wonderful team of incredible foster carers today!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I adopt a senior animal from RSPCA NSW?

RSPCA NSW rehomes a range of wonderful Rescuoodles, including seasoned and distinguished older cats and dogs. No matter your age or level of experience with caring for a furry friend, we can help you try and find your perfect friend at one of our shelters and adoption centres.

If you’re a Seniors Card holder, be sure to bring your card along if adopting an older dog or cat. Our Seniors for Seniors program gives Seniors Card holders both a discount on adoption fees and a lifetime of benefits at our veterinary hospitals. The promotion also opens up access to our Home Ever After program, which offers pets additional security in case something happens to their human companions.

Please note that, although we update our online lists of available animals every day, there is always a chance that the senior pet you are interested in will have found another home before your arrival at our facilities.

Whether you’re adopting a distinguished senior animal or an excitable younger pet, we offer post-adoption support to everyone who has recently adopted a canine or feline friend. Following your adoption, our team will promptly reach out via phone or email, offering advice, referrals to our teams, or access to additional helpful resources.

Though we strive to ensure that new adopters feel supported when adjusting to life with their animal companions, our support channels are always open to any animal lovers in need of assistance. From general over-the-phone advice to referrals to our behaviour or veterinary teams, we have plenty of options available to animal guardians looking for support.

If you’d like some help with your animal companion and need to reach out to our teams, please feel free to contact us at (02) 9770 7555.

Every RSPCA NSW animal that requires desexing, microchipping, parasite treatment, and vaccinations undergoes all these procedures prior to adoption. Each animal also goes through a series of comprehensive veterinary checks along with any necessary training, quarantine, and rehabilitation.

As a charity, we use our adoption fees to help us recover a portion of these costs, so we can spend more of our resources on supporting people and pets in need.
