Community Outreach Assistance

Need help providing treatment and care to your beloved forever friend? Our list of available assistance programs can help you locate the support you need.

RSPCA NSW understands the mutually beneficial nature of the human and animal bond, and the crucial role people play in improving animals’ lives. That’s why our Community Outreach team continue to deliver programs that consider the needs of people and animals and facilitate positive community change.

Maintaining the bond between people and animals makes for stronger, healthier communities but, for many Australians, financial hardships and other obstacles can make caring for a pet seem like a risky, expensive strain. Hurdles like poverty and restricted access to veterinary care can prevent pet owners from responding to their companion animals’ needs. Keeping animals in the homes they have is often the best outcome for all, which is why we work towards holistic solutions to keep people and pets together.

By providing remote and underserved communities with animal advice and veterinary support, we’re paving the way to a brighter future for humans and animals alike.

3,522Animal Carers Reached

In the last financial year, our Community Outreach team provided 3,304 adults and 218 kids with positive pet care and behaviour advice, giving their pets a better chance at enjoying the happiness they deserve.

In the last financial year, our volunteers and Community Outreach team provided thousands of beloved pets with essential preventative veterinary care, including flea and parasite treatment, health checks, vaccinations, and more.

By lowering the rate of unplanned births and reducing the risk of various health conditions, our outreach team has spent the last financial year improving welfare outcomes for communities and animals alike.

Community Outreach Assistance Programs

Empowering our communities through outreach and education is a vital part of our mission to protect and care for animals. Our Community Outreach Assistance programs work towards addressing issues at their source, from educating animal carers on the benefits of desexing to combatting restricted access to veterinary care.

Annual Reports

RSPCA NSW’s Community Healthy Pet Days aim to enhance animal welfare by assisting high-priority communities with services that promote animal welfare, contribute to the wellbeing of people, and strengthen the human and animal bond.

RSPCA NSW’s People and Pets Community Days are run by our Branches and Supporter Groups in their local communities. These days focus on encouraging people to regularly check in on their pet’s overall wellbeing and health

RSPCA NSW’s Indigenous Community Companion Animal Health Program (ICCAHP) aims to improve animal welfare in underserviced remote communities by providing veterinary services and supplies for beloved pets throughout NSW.

RSPCA NSW’s Community Animal Welfare Scheme (CAWS) addresses the issue of overpopulation of companion animals in NSW. Through effective community education, subsidised desexing, vaccinations, and microchipping, we aim to lower the number of animals being surrendered to shelters and pounds.
