Yesterday, Wednesday 18 October, a team of inspectors executed a search warrant at a property in Western Sydney. A total of 11 dogs were seized, one of which required urgent veterinary treatment.

In response to a nationwide supply shortage of core cat vaccinations, RSPCA NSW will be placing a temporary hold on accepting any surrendered or stray felines for the next month (four weeks) at all sites, except for our Blue Mountains and Illawarra shelters, which will continue to accept strays in line with council pound obligations during this period.

Earlier this week, Tiny Tom, a long-term resident at RSPCA NSW’s Central Coast Behaviour and Rehabilitation Centre (BARC) celebrated his 2nd birthday. Unfortunately for Tiny Tom, it was a bittersweet celebration, as the day also marked his 500th day in care.

On Friday 10 March 2023,  a team of RSPCA NSW inspectors and animal transport officers executed a large-scale operation at a property in Western Sydney.

On Wednesday 8 March 2023, a team of four RSPCA NSW Inspectors, two veterinarians and two animal transport officers executed a large-scale operation at a Western Sydney home.

A 52-year-old Ingleburn man was sentenced at Campbelltown Local Court on 6 February 2023, for one offence of failing to provide veterinary treatment to his two injured pet dogs, who were severely wounded from fighting each other.

An Arcadia man was sentenced at Hornsby Local Court on 13 January 2023, after pleading guilty to failing to provide veterinary treatment to his 12-year-old Great Dane, ‘Lego’.

Did you know… last year RSPCA NSW took in more than 13,000 homeless, sick, injured, or surrendered cats? About 2 in 3 of these were kittens. That’s almost 9,000 kittens! If you lined these kittens up head to tail (and could get them to stay still) the queue would stretch for about two kilometres.

RSPCA NSW welcomes amendments to the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (POCTAA) which prevents people convicted of serious cruelty offences from owning animals or working for a business that provides care to animals.

A 35-year-old Greenwich man was sentenced at Parramatta Local Court on 30 August 2022, after pleading guilty to five cruelty offences against his 10-month-old Dobermann, ‘Ohlins’. Four further offences relating to the inappropriate confinement of the dog were taken into account on sentence.

RSPCA NSW is calling our equestrian community to give ex-racehorses, like Noodles, a forever paddock and a new lease on life this November.

Amendments to the Animal Research Act (1985) passed by the NSW Parliament today,  which will give cats and dogs used as research the right to be released into family homes, have been welcomed by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals New South Wales (RSPCA NSW).
