Celebrating the Heart of Our Community: The Vital Work of Our Branches and Supporter Groups

Glen Innes Healthy Pet Day

At the core of RSPCA NSW lies a network of dedicated volunteer branches and supporter groups, many of which have been tirelessly working for more than 50 years. These groups are more than just local extensions of RSPCA NSW; they are the cornerstone of our mission, driving change and offering support to people and animals in need.

Fundraising and Programs

Each RSPCA NSW volunteer branch and supporter group furthers our mission to protect and care for animals while actively addressing and engaging with the unique needs of their local communities. By raising funds and managing events for pets and members of their local areas, they continue to play an integral role within the larger RSPCA NSW family. In truth, their efforts are nothing short of extraordinary; without their help, our impact simply wouldn’t be the same.

Last financial year alone, these groups invested over $269,000 in subsidised desexing and community assistance. These funds helped more than 1000 animals receive essential treatment and care, preventing unwanted litters and contributing to the overall health and well-being of animal companions throughout NSW. Through a range of community assistance programs, volunteers provided essential support to pet owners experiencing financial hardship. This included covering the costs of pet food, treatments for fleas, ticks, and worms, as well as necessary but costly emergency veterinary expenses.

In addition to these life-saving programs, our branches and supporter groups donated over $41,000 in supplies and services to our shelters, ensuring that the animals still waiting to find their forever homes can receive the enrichment and care they deserve.

The commitment of these groups extends beyond their financial contributions. Throughout the year, they played a pivotal role in a range of community events, including the annual Million Paws Walk, Cupcake Day, doggy day events, raffles, market stalls, pie drives, and more. These efforts not only raise awareness for animal welfare across NSW but also foster a sense of community and a love for all creatures, great and small.
