Would you like to see tougher penalties for offences of animal cruelty? The biggest review of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1979 (POCTAA) in 40 years is taking place and you can have your say! The Department of Primary Industries are seeking community feedback for proposed changes to POCTAA including whether the statutory maximum penalties and Penalty Infringement Notices for animal cruelty offences in NSW meet community expectations. Make sure you have your say on the legislation before submissions close at 5pm Sunday 22 July 2018! Community and stakeholder feedback will be used to inform decisions about how to improve the operation of existing animal welfare legislation.
