Little bit about Layla, the Rescuoodle

Hey all!

My name is Layla, I'm a goofy young lady with lots of energy and learning to do! I am looking for a family who will have fun with me and be my best buddies. I love to get involved in all the family fun and absolutely love having a run outdoors, I would appreciate if my family gave me lots of time outdoors and kept me active. I also love to spend time with my family inside, especially after everyone has been at work all day – so please make some time for evening cuddles on the couch!

I would prefer to be part of a household where everyone is over 15, this is because when I get a bit excited I can be a silly girl and jump up all over the place, including onto people sometimes. I try so hard to make the right decisions but sometimes I just can't help it and I would hate to accidentally injure a smaller member of the family in the midst of my silliness! With the right environment, consistency and a little more training I will be able to make the right choices and save the play time for a more appropriate time.

I really enjoy training – the staff here have taught me some cool stuff using rewards based training (treats as a reward YUM!). I love to keep my brain active just as much as my body. Giving me things to do like stuffed kongs, puzzle feeders, snuffles, toys, brain games, scent work etc. are all things I love and will keep me satisfied, oh and I love sniffy walks!

I will need a family to have had experience with dogs in the past and know the basics of reading their body language, and not put me into situations I feel uncomfortable in. It would be important for you to understand when I am feeling overwhelmed, and ways to help me feel better by utilising enrichment, treats or decompression activities.

If you have another doggo at home that's okay with me! I'm a little bit under socialized so we'll have to take it slow and make sure we're a perfect match! But during my stay in shelter I've had a couple doggy friends who I have playdates with! If you have a furry friend for me at home, please bring them with you to meet when when you visit!
