Keeping People and Animals Together

RSPCA NSW recognises how valued our community programs are not only to the pet guardians who use them, but also the compassionate animal lovers who fund and believe in our mission.

Thanks to our compassionate, generous network of partners, donors, and supporters, our campaigns and programs impact hundreds of vulnerable animals every year.

We’re all very used to tallying the number of animals we care for and the investigations we undertake, but when evaluating programs that prevent future suffering, or provide relief for pet owners in emergency situations, it is essential to calculate the long-term impact of our work. That’s why our specialised impact reports consider social, economic, and environmental factors and measure values not typically expressed in annual reports and financial statements.

3,035 Animals Assisted Through Programs
RSPCA NSW supports more than 3,000 animals every year through outreach initiatives, vet assistance schemes, and crisis support programs. Our proactive, preventative approach contributes to positive animal outcomes in underserviced NSW communities in addition to preventing animal cruelty before it can occur.
3,522 People Assisted Through Programs
Every year, we meet, guide, and support thousands of pet guardians from animal-loving communities across NSW. Through outreach initiatives, desexing drives, and a range of crisis support programs, we’re providing underserviced communities with life-changing services and animal welfare education.
$629,292 Invested in Branch Veterinary Assistance
Our volunteers, branches, and supporter groups play a vital role in helping people help their animals. Their kindness and generosity not only helps foster a sense of community among animal lovers across the state, but also increases the reach of our vet assistance schemes and outreach programs.

Crisis Support Programs

Through targeted crisis support, we’re providing security to those in need of urgent assistance with their pets. Each of our programs is unique, but they all aim to safeguard the human and animal bond. Without our donors and supporters, our impact wouldn’t be the same. That’s why we’re excited to share three assessments of our crisis support programs, which express the social return your investment in our programs has had!

Aged Care Social Return on Investment Report

RSPCA NSW Aged Care Program supports older animal lovers who live independently and do not have support from family or friends to care for their pets. Providing more than 3,600 nights of safety for 292 animals in FY20-21, the program generated $5.77 of social value for every $1 invested.

Domestic Violence Social Return on Investment Report

The RSPCA NSW Domestic Violence Program provides practical solutions for pet owners leaving situations of domestic and family violence. Providing more than 7,400 nights of crisis accommodation for 220 animals in FY20-21, the program generated $9.95 of social value for every $1 invested.

Homelessness and Emergency Boarding Social Return on Investment Report

The RSPCA NSW Homelessness and Emergency Boarding Program supports people and pets experiencing homelessness or crises, including acute hospitalisations and natural disasters. As of FY20-21, the program generated $8.21 of social value for every $1 invested.

By addressing the needs of both people and their pets, our support services help prevent cruelty before it can occur.
