RSPCA NSW recognises how valued our community programs are not only to the pet guardians who use them, but also the compassionate animal lovers who fund and believe in our mission. Â
We are all very used to tallying the number of animals we care for, or the investigations we undertake, but when evaluating programs that prevent future suffering, or provide relief for pet owners in emergency situations, it can be challenging to calculate the long-term impact of our services. That’s why our specialised impact reports consider social, economic, and environmental factors and measure values not typically expressed in annual reports and financial statements.
Our Keeping Cats Safe at Home campaign is a four-year human behaviour change project assisted by the NSW Government through its Environmental Trust. As part of the project, we’ve been encouraging cat lovers to have their feline friends desexed, permanently identified and registered, and prevent them from roaming outdoors.Â
Since the start of the project, we’ve partnered with 11 NSW councils including Blue Mountains City Council, Byron Shire Council, and more, providing essential veterinary assistance and sharing educational resources with cat lovers across the state.Â
To find out more about the project or get in touch with our cat-loving team, please contact us via email at safecats@rspcansw.org.au.
As a charity, RSPCA NSW relies on donations, partnerships, and fundraising to drive change in our communities, provide treatment and shelter for animals, and provide both people and animals with emergency support. We’re excited to share three assessments of our crisis support programs, which express the social return your investment in our programs has had! Â
Animals are likely to be present in up to 70% of domestic and family violence cases, which is why our Domestic and Family Violence Support Program helps those experiencing violence and coercion to seek safety for themselves and their animal companions.Â
The RSPCA NSW Aged Care Program supports older people who do not have any support from family or friends to care for their companion animals and continue to live independently in their homes.
RSPCA NSW’s Homelessness Support Program provides case management, boarding, transport, and access to veterinary treatment for pet owners experiencing health or housing emergencies. We ensure that people can remain with their animal companions, even while focusing on finding housing or undergoing medical treatment.Â
This video series shines a spotlight on the inherent humanity behind working in animal welfare. Equal parts heart-warming and heart-wrenching, Stories Behind the Scars offers a glimpse into the lives of the unsung heroes – the inspectors, veterinary staff, and our community outreach team – who make RSPCA NSW’s mission a reality every day.Â
Our strategic plan represents our commitment to contribute our insight and experience to shape a brighter future for people and animals alike. By improving access to veterinary care, empowering animal-loving communities, and emboldening our Inspectorate and 24-hour contact centre, we can help build a world where animals are loved and treated with respect.Â
RSPCA NSW rehomes a range of different animals, from dogs, cats, and birds to horses, rabbits, and sheep! We believe that all creatures, great and small, can bring joy to our families and homes. Begin your adoption journey today and make an adorable lifelong friend!
By providing temporary homes for our animals, we can ensure they get the care they need until they are ready to be adopted. Join our network of foster carers for an incredibly rewarding experience; with your help, we can change the lives of some of the state’s most vulnerable animals.
We rely on our generous supporters to continue assisting the thousands of animals turning to RSPCA NSW for help. No matter how small your contribution, every gift makes a lifesaving difference for animals in need.
By raising funds and lending a hand to communities and their pets, our volunteers play a pivotal role in our work throughout NSW. If you have a genuine concern for animals and enjoy meeting like-minded people, consider becoming an RSPCA NSW volunteer today!
We promise to uphold the highest ethical standards. Your personal information has never been, and never will be sold or traded to other charities. This is our promise to you.
We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands on which we live and work. We recognise and respect the enduring relationship they have with their lands and waterways, and particularly acknowledge the vital role animals have played in Indigenous life, stories and culture for tens of thousands of years.
